The Marine Biological Association (MBA) has announced the opening of its new Plankton Taxonomy Laboratory, significantly enhancing its vital plankton research capabilities. The facility is now home to the Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) Survey, one of the world’s longest-running and most geographically extensive marine ecological surveys. The open-plan space includes sixteen CPR Survey workstations—doubling previous capacity—alongside seven additional plankton taxonomy stations for non-CPR samples, a larger dedicated sample processing room, a silk preparation room, and a taxonomy training room.
