Healthcare in Hospitals

As 2023 draws to a close, we are delighted to reflect on what has been another great year for the team here at Principal Doorsets.

We believe it’s our combined passion, expertise and years of experience that makes us one of the UK’s Premier Doorset manufacturers. This year has seen a series of promotions and appointments that has strengthened our team from within and it is these strengths that have enabled us to win a large project with the NHS in Dorset.

Work is underway at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital site to create a new BEACH building (Births, Emergency, And, Critical care, children’s Health). The new facilities, described as a ‘once in a generation opportunity’, will include a new purpose-built maternity unit and children’s unit and an enhanced emergency department and critical care unit, with capacity for up to 30 beds.

This project requires us to provide 1054 doorsets, ranging from non-fire rated to FD120 doorsets and 76 pairs of doors, a total of 1130 doors in total.

To fulfil the specifications of this project, the doors feature a predominantly Polrey™ laminate facade. Some doors are equipped with extra PVC edge protection, while others boast a discreet lip detail.

Many thanks for all your support throughout this year.
Especially Principal Doorsets, for all your hard work."

From Ridon Joinery

The glazing encompasses various apertures, including flush panel designs that eliminate shelves where dust and germs could accumulate. Additionally, the "Flush" beading aligns seamlessly with the door's surface, eliminating any protruding elements that could be susceptible to damage during regular use.

We are working alongside RLM Architects, IHP contractors and Ridon Joinery, specialist joiners based in Southampton who are installing our doorsets. We have worked with Ridon previously on Poole hospital. The installation is rapidly progressing with the joinery firm hard at work ensuring that the doors and doorsets are properly installed.

When we provide doorsets into large building projects we believe a partnership approach is the best way forward. By working closely with the teams that are fitting the doors ensures that we communicate the technical information that is required. We then also have confidence that our products will perform the way that they’re intended to for many years to come.

So, as one door shuts on 2023, another opens on 2024. From us all at Principal Doorsets, have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
