Marland School

Principal Doorsets was appointed to manufacture doorsets for a new residential building for students at Marland School in Great Torrington, Devon.

The £2.8 million project designed by NPS and constructed by Morgan Sindall will be delivered over two phases. The early work between NPS and Principal Doorsets on specification, to provide product that would be "robust in a demanding environment" whilst being aesthetically in line with standard educational establishment was detailed. Phase one will see a new building complete with 28 single student bedrooms, each with their own en-suite facility included 156 doors.

Phase two will involve the refurbishment of the existing residential facilities, which will be converted into 16 single bedrooms. Older bathrooms in the building will also be refurbished and student lounges will be relocated to the first floor of the building alongside the bedrooms.

Marland is one of 10 special schools in the Devon-wide SENtient Co-operative Foundation Trust and is maintained by Devon County Council. The school caters for the needs of Year 4 to Year 11 students who experience Social, Emotional, Behavioural and/or Mental Health Difficulties (SEBD / SEMH).
