A push here, a kick there, a wallop and a slam, this is a day in the life of a door in an education setting.
Education settings are busy places where doors are in constant use and are subject to frequent knocks and scrapes as children bustle through them. They are also places where safety is of the highest importance and so the doors need to meet a range of requirements.
Here at Principal Doorsets we have vast experience of supplying the education sector which means we understand the importance of delivering functional, tough, hardwearing, and secure doors, whilst meeting necessary legislations. We have developed a range of doors that offer many performance demands and meet a variety of budgets and settings (Primary, Secondary, Further, University, SEN, HMYOI, youth custody centres etc.).
Finger protection:
According to The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, 30,000 children trap their fingers in doors every year with more than 1,500 requiring surgeries. We have a solution for this with our innovative Safehinge finger protection which prevents the crushing and shearing of fingers in your setting. The durable aluminium construction and supreme quality means it will not crack, tear or shatter; it is built to last. Safehinge works in harmony with all doorsets provided by us and the sleek aluminium profile blends in beautifully with any existing fittings and complements any finish you specify on the door face and adjacent frame.
Performance:
Our doorsets offer fire retardancy of up to 120 minutes and our acoustic doorsets are available in multiple acoustic performances up to Rw42dB and can be configured as an acoustic and fire rated doorsets.
Door protection and durability:
A door that is resistant to everyday knocks, scuffs and scratches is essential in an education setting and our answer to this is postform. The postforming of 2mm thick PVC around the hanging, lock edges, frame and face of the door offers extreme resistances to scratching and splitting from frequent use and is easy to clean. PVC is almost triple the thickness of standard 0.7mm laminate which means is can absorb frequent impacts and does not shatter or chip as can happened with a laminate face product. This reduces maintenance costs by protecting the frame from damage whilst keeping pupils, staff, and visitors safe by protecting them from exposed damaged timber edges.
